Irony in using death penalty on alleged baby murderer
September 12, 2010
I just wanted to comment on the story
titled “<a href=
“https://northernstar.info/from_ap/nation_world/article_35888710-0c04-54ce-b47f-3876db1224db.html”>Prosecutors
to seek death penalty in Stockton case” which appeared in the
Northern Star on Wednesday.
This is about a case currently going
on in Winnebago County (Rockford) in which the state is seeking the
imposition of the death penalty against a young woman who allegedly
ended the life of her baby in 2004.
I could not help but notice the irony
in the story. A young woman who allowed her newborn to freeze to
death is a murderer who the state wants dead, but had she just had
an abortion prior to giving birth, you’d have organizations like
“Advocates for Choice” likely claiming she was a hero who was
simply exercising her “choice.”
Again, seems kind of ridiculous.
