Drake opener changes to Tyga

By Chris Krapek

A change has been made to rapper Drake‘s show at the NIU Convocation Center on Sunday, Oct. 17.

“Drake just announced that Tyga would be the opening act and Clipse will no longer be on [the show],” said Heather Priest, Convocation Center marketing manager.

Priest said she didn’t know the reason as to why the critically-acclaimed duo Clipse was replaced, only that the decision was made by Drake.

Hailing from Compton, Tyga is a 20-year-old rapper who is labelmates with Drake at Young Money Entertainment. The Lil’ Wayne protege is best known for his verses on “Bedrock,” “Roger That” and the Chris Brown song “Deuces.”

Tickets to the show, part of Drake’s Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour, are still available.

Prices range from $31.50-39.50 and can be purchased at the Convocation Center box office, by phone at 800-745-3000, or online at Ticketmaster.com.
