‘Walking Dead’ appears to have legs

New zombie show ‘Walking Dead’ hits TV airwaves this Halloween.

It seems like trailers for TV shows and movies have become more buzzworthy than the actual product itself. What better way to promote an upcoming program by throwing together a couple minutes-worth of grade-A moments from the show?

At Comic-Con 2010, AMC released a trailer for their upcoming original series The Walking Dead.

This is exciting for several reasons, chief among them is the fact that The Walking Dead is the best ongoing graphic novel series in the world.

The story follows a group of survivors during a zombie apocalypse. It will be difficult to not rave about the plot, because truthfully, everyone would be better off if they just read it for themselves.

When over-analyzing a trailer, fans of the base material are sure to freak out if actors cast to major roles look different then imagined. However, in the case of The Walking Dead, the casting looks spot on. Rick, Shane, Lori, Carl and Morgan look excellent.

The zombies look great, and move slowly and deliberately (which they should–fast zombies are lame). Specific sequences from the first few issues of the comic book are shown in the trailer, which should give viewers who are familiar with the series a sense of security.

AMC’s The Walking Dead appears to stay true to the comic books, which could guarantee a long run.

The coolest part about AMC’s decision to run The Walking Dead as a series is that the comic it is based on is still running. There are several points in the series where a TV show could conceivably end and still satisfy fans of both the show and books.

The trailer for The Walking Dead is still streaming as we speak, so it might be worth the five-minute investment. AMC is becoming one of the premier channels for original content, and The Walking Dead is no exception. It will fit perfectly on the same channel that features Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Rubicon.

Be sure not to miss the premiere this Halloween.
