Chicago Police arrested Michael T. Lewis Jr., 22, of DeKalb, Thursday morning on an active warrant, according to a DeKalb Police press release.

On March 24 DeKalb Police issued a warrant for Lewis for aggravated discharge of a firearm. The warrant was issued in connection to a March 23 report of shots fired in the 700 block of Russell Road.

According to a DeKalb Police press release from March, witnesses told police they observed a man fire one shot from a handgun towards a group of people walking nearby. Police were unable to locate anyone that was injured.

Although Lewis has been apprehended, he has not been transferred back to DeKalb County.

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said he’s unsure of when Lewis will transferred back to DeKalb.

Since March police have been actively searching for Lewis in Chicago, Spangler said.

“His last known address was Chicago, so the main search was there,” Spangler said.

No charges have been added to the original aggravated discharge of a firearm charge, Spangler said.

According to the March press release the bond amount for Lewis was originally set at $250,000.
