Campus blotter for 08/30/10

TUESDAY

At 9 a.m., a University Police officer was dispatched to Founders Memorial Library in reference to two suspicious individuals previously suspected of cannabis possession. Interaction with the two subjects revealed that one of the individuals had a concealed knife with a 3 and 1/2 inch blade. The officer confiscated the knife and the individual received a verbal warning for unlawful possession of a weapon. Both individuals received a 24-hour ban from the library.

At 9 a.m., University Police received a call regarding the theft of an iPod from the ladies locker room at the Recreation Center. The complainant stated that she forgot her iPod in the locker room and that when she returned 10 minutes later, her iPod was missing. An investigation did not produce the iPod. Case is administratively closed due to no leads and no suspects.

At 12:34 p.m., University Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle outside of Stevenson Tower B. The complainant stated that sometime between Aug. 1 and 7:30 a.m. of Aug. 23, someone stole his locked bicycle from the bike rack. An investigation did not produce the bike. Case is administratively closed due to no leads and no suspects.

At 9:13 p.m., University Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that had committed and traffic infraction. The driver, Gregory Holmes, 20, had an active warrant. Holmes was arrested on multiple weapons charges, possession of cannabis 30 grams and under, and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

WEDNESDAY

At 2:20 p.m., a University Police officer was dispatched to the Founders Memorial Library in reference to a bicycle theft. The complainant stated that her bicycle had been stolen from the bike rack located near the north doors of Founders Memorial Library sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 2:00 p.m. on Aug. 25. An investigation did not produce the bike. Case is administratively closed due to no leads and no suspects.

At 2:20 p.m., a University Police officer met with a complainant regarding an incident. The complainant, who had partial vision, stated that at approximately 2:00 p.m., a gold SUV ran over his walking cane while crossing Lucinda Ave. and Gilbert Drive. The vehicle drove off without checking on the complainant. Pending further leads or a suspect, this case is administratively closed.

At 7:43 p.m., University Police met with a complainant regarding a stolen bicycle. The complainant stated that his bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack at Douglas Hall sometime between 7:00 p.m. Aug. 22 and 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 25. An investigation did not produce the bike. Pending further leads or a suspect, this case is administratively closed.

THURSDAY

At 11:39 p.m., University Police observed a female sitting on a bench in front of Douglas Hall vomiting into a garbage can. The individual admitted to drinking and received a referral to Judicial Affairs for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 11:54 p.m., University Police stopped a subject carrying a can of beer near Grant Drive. When questioned, the subject revealed more cans in his bag. The individual was referred to Judicial Affairs for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

At 11:56 p.m., a University Police officer conducting a routine check of Grant South Lobby noticed two individuals with a case of beer exiting the premises. Both admitted to drinking underage and voluntarily poured the beer out. Both were non-students and received a verbal warning for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
