Wendy’s robbed

Police are searching for a man who robbed a fast-food restaurant on the evening of July 9.

At 10:30 p.m., a man armed with a knife came up to the drive-thru window at Wendy’s, 439 E. State Street, while a customer was being served and grabbed money from the cash register after shoving the drive-thru employee, according to a Sycamore Police Department press release. The suspect, described only as wearing black with his face covered, then fled the area, according to the release.

The Wendy’s employee shoved in the robbery was not hurt, said Sycamore Police Sgt. Steve Cook said.

The drive-thru customer, who left the area after the robbery, is being sought after by investigators, Cook said.

“We’d really like to know who the person in the drive-thru was,” Cook said. “We’re looking for anyone who was in that area at the time and saw anything to call in.”

Cook said investigators have some leads in the case, but couldn’t release specifics.
