Huskies guard removes name from NBA Draft

By JON LEVANICH

The idea of having a Huskie in the NBA will have to wait at least another year.

NIU guard Darion “Jake” Anderson has officially taken his name out of the NBA Draft pool.

Underclassmen had until June 15 to remove their name from the draft in order to keep their remaining college eligibility.

It was announced on April 30 that Anderson would declare for the draft, but not hire an agent, allowing him to keep his eligibility should he choose to withdraw from the draft.

Neither Anderson nor NIU head coach Ricardo Patton were available to comment on the situation.

Anderson led the Huskies in scoring last season, averaging 16.9 points per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field. Anderson was also named second team All-MAC, a year after being named the MAC Freshman of the Year.
