DeKalb Police have identified the man suspected in the attempted robbery of F&J’s restaurant, 890 Pappas Drive, Monday.

Former F&J’s employee Larry C. Flowers, 36, of DeKalb, was arrested shortly after the robbery, a press release said. Flowers has been charged with robbery, burglary and aggravated battery. According to the release, Flowers came into F&J’s at 3:44 p.m. and “began to argue with employees.”

He then “pushed his way past an employee, went behind the counter and asked other employees for money,” the release said.

Flowers then opened the register and took money at which point an employee tried to prevent him from leaving the scene. The release states the employee was slightly injured in preventing Flowers from taking any money.

Flowers dropped the cash and then fled on foot. Shortly afterward an officer found Flowers in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road.

He was transported to the DeKalb County Jail pending a bond call.

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said witnesses placed two more people that came in with Flowers. However, he said it did not appear they were involved in the robbery.

Spangler said the police have a “few leads” on the identities of the other two people, and once they are identified they will be brought in for questioning.

Manager Joe Deland said this is the third robbery F&J’s has fallen victim to since the restaurant has been open. The previous two were forced entry robberies when the business was closed.
