“Degrassi” star to perform for free at the Convocation Center

Fresh off working with Lil’ Wayne and Dr. Dre, Canadian rapper Drake will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. April 28 at the Convocation Center.

Aubrey “Drake” Graham is best known for playing the physically disabled character of Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian television series “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” Aside from acting, Drake has focused on his music career by working with Cash Money Records and collaborating with critically acclaimed emcees The Clipse. His album “Barely Fitting In” will be released sometime this year, according to a news release.

Students with a valid NIU OneCard can pick up tickets April 28 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Capitol Room of the Holmes Student Center. Seats are limited, and local acts will open the show.
