Proposed wind farm public hearing reopened

The citizens of DeKalb will once again have a hearing to express their views on the proposed wind farm.

In a special meeting of the DeKalb County Planning and Zoning Committee at Kishwaukee College, Vice Chairman Pat Vary announced that the DeKalb County State’s Attorney has advised the committee that the petitioner had introduced new information in response to the questions raised at the last public hearing on March 21.

The public hearing is now re-opened and a time and date will be announced at a future time.

The proposition brought forth by FPL Energy Wind LLC is to construct a wind warm consisting of 119 turbines in Shabbona, Milan, Afton and Clinton Townships in unincorporated DeKalb County.

The March 21 wind farm hearing at Sycamore High School was met with much criticism as it stretched from 9 a.m. March 21 until past 3 a.m. March 22.
