Bob Carlson

Education: Graduated from NIU in 1971 with a degree in marketing

Experience: This is Bob Carlson’s first attempt at serving public office. He has no previous political experience. He has lived in DeKalb for 32 years and started Carlson Appraisal Service 25 years ago. He has owned his own private business. Carlson, his wife and son own Hillcrest Place apartment complex.

What will you bring to the city if elected?: He quoted Henry David Thoreau: “Government is best which governs least.” He got involved in politics at this point because he has two local businesses and he feels that government at all levels is trying to take too much control of people’s private lives. He feels he could step in and have the local government take a step back.
