NIU alum works on Broadway

By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

NIU is going to Broadway.

Huskies willing to trek 850 miles will be entertained by and have the opportunity to meet Academy Award nominee and NIU Class of ’89 alumna Joan Allen on Friday, April 17 in New York.

The NIU Alumni Association is offering an up close and personal night with the famous Hollywood actress at Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

Those attending will be treated first to a showing of “Impressionism,” a play starring Allen and critically lauded actor Jeremy Irons. “Impressionism” tells the story of a world-traveling photojournalist and a New York gallery owner who help repair each others’ broken lives, according to the NIU Alumni Association Web site.

This will mark Allen’s return to the stage after her 1989 performance in “The Heidi Chronicles.”

A cocktail and heavy appetizer reception will follow at Sardi’s in New York where NIU alumni and friends will have the chance to meet and talk with Allen.

Tickets are $65 for Legacy Members, $115 for Cardinal and Black Members and $125 for nonmembers. The cost of travel is not included.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Office of Alumni Relations at (815) 753-1452.
