Final Four: Villanova needs a couple more upsets to take title

By STEVE NITZ

Villanova makes its first trip to the Final Four since 1985, when the No. 8 seed Wildcats defeated No. 1 seed Georgetown and Patrick Ewing in one of the biggest upsets in college basketball history in the Finals.

If the Wildcats are going to take home the title this year in Detroit, they will need to complete a couple more upsets, starting with Saturday’s contest against North Carolina.

Villanova is led by forward Dante Cunningham (16.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg) and point guard Scottie Reynolds (15.2 ppg, 3.3 apg), who hit the game-winning shot in last weekend’s regional final win over Pittsburgh.

The rest of Villanova’s starting lineup consists of guard/forward Dwayne Anderson (9.1 ppg), forward Shane Clark (5.6 ppg) and guard Reggie Redding (6.9 ppg).
