WINNER: Tom Teresinski

Tom Teresinski has spent 35 years in business management as a controller for large manufacturing companies. He also was a past school board president. He plans to address the 2010 budget issues and said the ward needs a balanced budget based largely on spending controls rather than increased taxes.

Tom Teresinski — “Well it feels great. I knew it was going to be close. I think Bob Carlson ran a really effective campaign. He put up a number of signs on tax free spaces. I think that gave him a number of votes at the end of the election cycle. I just wanted to thank all the voters for coming out. It was a great turnout in the 2nd ward and I hope to represent the voters well in our ward.”

Bob Carlson ­— “I lost by 13 votes. Not bad for a first time try, and I lost to a good individual.”

Ward 4

WINNER: Brendon Gallagher

Brendon Gallagher’s previous experience ranges from a Village of Shabbona Board Member in 1988 to Chairman of the Citizens Finance Advisory Committee for DeKalb School District 428. He plans to add some stability to the 4th ward by building a foundation for the ward and helping the downtown DeKalb area.

John A. Anderson — “I ran a good campaign. I walked the whole ward myself and talked to [voters]. I’m not going to run again, but I will always be involved in politics. I’m not afraid to voice my opinion.”

Trosey J. Batteast, Jr. — “Believe it or not, I wasn’t [disappointed]. I didn’t expect to win. I wanted to see what would happen and get my feet wet.”

Matthew Kapustianyk — “I’m disappointed in the turnout, but I’m not going to let that hold me back in trying to serve the community as best I can.”
