Former NIU student missing; police initiate investigation

The DeKalb Police initiated a missing person investigation Mar. 23 after family members of Pilar Hernandez reported him missing.

According to a DeKalb Police Department press release, Hernandez, 22, was last seen by his roommate Mar. 21 at his apartment, 1110 Varsity Blvd. Hernandez left a note stating that he would be back Saturday or Sunday. Hernandez has not contacted any family members in over two weeks and took most of his belongings from his apartment when he left. Hernandez was enrolled at NIU in 2008.

No foul play is suspected.

According to the release, Hernandez may be driving an aqua blue Toyota Corolla, license plate number 5028772. Hernandez is a 6-feet-2-inch, 270 pound male with black hair and brown eyes.
