Huskie auction features Jordan jersey

If Michael Jordan doesn’t unretire, the Chicagoland Chapters of the NIU Huskies Athletic Association are making it possible for one lucky person to have one of the select few Air Jordan game jerseys—better yet, one of his autographed jerseys.

The Huskie Chicagoland Dinner/Auction is set for Friday, Nov. 19 at the Hyatt Regency Oak Brook with the cost of $50 per person covering the 6:30 p.m. dinner. Proceeds from the oral and silent auction will be used to benefit the NIU athletic scholarship fund.

Reservations for dinner may be made by calling the NIU Athletic Development Office at (815) 753-1301. NIU football boss Charlie Sadler will be among the Huskie coaches in attendance for the dinner.

Auction items range from outstanding sports memorabilia to trips, appliances, gift certificates, professional services, tickets and honorary coaching packages.

However, items that must be mentioned include:

‘An authentic Air Jordan game jersey which is autographed and carries with it a certificate of authenticity.

‘For serious collectors looking to invest in the greatest and perhaps the next greatest, the auction list also includes an autographed Shaquelle O’Neal print. One of 1,000 limited edition prints, it too bears a certificate of authenticity.

‘If football is your favorite sport, how about autographed jerseys from Neal Anderson and Steve Young and the 1993 NCAA Division I-A rushing champion-to-be, NIU’s LeShon Johnson.

‘Bear fans will be interested in footballs autographed by Mike Ditka and Gale Sayers.

‘Baseball aficionados can bid for an autographed hat and ball from manager Gene Lamont or an autographed bat from Randy Myers.

‘Chicago sports fans can also get tickets to Bulls, Blackhawks, Cubs and White Sox games.

‘Other feature items include a Zenith Console TV, paintings, jewelry, crystal, plus trips with the NIU football team during the 1994 season.
