Spring fashion don’ts
March 18, 2009
While a change in temperature calls for a change of wardrobe, a quick review of some common springtime fashion faux pas will help you keep your cool as the temperatures rise.
1. Absolutely NO socks with sandals.
No matter what you may be thinking, no one else is digging those toe socks peeking out from your Birkenstocks. Leave that no-no to Ug, the counselor from “Salute Your Shorts.”
2. Ditch the peroxide and Sun-In.
Going lighter in the spring and summer is a common hair makeover for girls. Though the economy is bad, don’t skimp on quality in an attempt for lighter locks. A cheap or poorly toned bleach can mean a head of carrot-colored locks only a prop comedian could love.
3. Keep your privates private!
While Lady Gaga can get away with strutting around Hollywood without any pants on, flaunting your goodies in public is no way to get respect from anyone here in the real world. No one wants to see butt cracks, bras, thongs or boxers, so keep that underwear under there!
4. Use sunscreen.
The one thing that is always in, no matter what form it’s in, is sunscreen. While being tan is hot, melanoma is the most common type of cancer, and most damage occurs in the young adult years. Plus the smell of that Banana Boat will serve as a sweet reminder of just how close we are to the end of the school year.
