‘Doubt’ left me with chills.

The intense film focuses on a Catholic school nun’s suspicions about a priest’s indiscretions with a young black student in the Bronx in 1964.

The tension between Meryl Streep as Sister Aloysius and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Father Flynn is so tense that you’re uncomfortable while watching.

Streep, Hoffman and Amy Adams are outstanding. All three perform at the highest level, especially Streep, who is flawless. Her Sister Aloysius is intimidating and strong-willed, but we experience her “doubts” in the briefest of moments.

The combination of the buttoned-down Catholic behavior and the on-the-edge-of-your-seat fights between Hoffman and Streep is powerful.

At the end, you’ll have your doubts.
