Plan commission scraps TKE house demolition
February 12, 2009
The Evans Scholars Foundation has withdrawn their application for a special use permit to construct a new rooming house.
Plan Commission Chair John Guio read a letter at the DeKalb Plan Commission meeting Monday night from the foundation stating their intent to withdraw their proposal and reapply at a later date.
DeKalb City Planner Derek Hiland said the foundation will put together a new report and he expects to discuss it at a plan commission meeting in March.
The foundation was requesting to build a four-story rooming house at 901/907 Greenbrier Road. The current Evans Scholars House, 901 Greenbrier Road, would be demolished. The residents were proposed to live in the Theta Kappa Epsilon house, 907 Greenbrier Road, while the house is being built. After the Evans Scholars House was built, the TKE house would then be demolished and turned into a parking lot, according to the proposal.
The board also continued a public hearing from the previous meeting, hearing revised plan for the proposed DeKalb High School.
