The NIU Equestrian Club got a good look at what is to come for the postseason this past weekend as they competed in the First Annual Collegiate Challenge Invitational Horse Show in Coolville, Ohio.

The club sent two teams of riders to the 12-team tournament with one team tying with Ball State for seventh overall and the other squad missing the ribbons by one point.

Club President Mike Lenard was impressed with his Walk-Trot-Canter riders, especially Alexandria Terry who won her class.

“It was an awesome performance,” Lenard said.

The invitational gave the Huskies a good look at the competition they will see come postseason time which begins in five weeks.

“We got a good idea of Purdue’s team of riders which is one of the two teams that we will be competing against for the chance to qualify for nationals,” Lenard said.

The club has two regular season horse shows left before the postseason. March 13th and 14th they will participate in the co-hosted show of Augustana College and Illinois State University.
