Wind chill advisory for Saturday morning
January 23, 2009
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for DeKalb and the northern Illinois area from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Low temperatures will drop to zero degrees to -5 degrees Saturday morning, the NWS said. This will produce 10 to 15 mph winds and wind chills of -20 degrees to -25 degrees.
A wind chill advisory means very cold air will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, wear a hat and gloves and other protective clothing.
