‘Bolt’ brings fun, family to 3D

By LINDSEY KASTNING

“Bolt” leapt off the screen, literally, as Disney has made an entire film specifically made for 3D.

With an all-star cast, “Bolt” is not only an adorable film about a movie star dog who believes he really has super powers, but is also a showcase for the ultimate talent behind several of the on screen characters.

Thirty years after John Travolta lit up the hearts of thousands of teenage girls with his role as Danny Zuko in “Grease,” he strikes the hearts of thousands of children aiding his voice to the adorably feisty animated dog, Bolt.

Also adding to the talent, Miley Cyrus contributes her voice to the beloved animated character Penny. Penny, who is Bolt’s acting partner and owner, is heartbroken when her talented dog goes missing. Cyrus proves that she can be more than just a rockstar. Her character Penny is sweet, kind-hearted, full of life and could not have been a better roll for Cyrus to sparkle through.

But, the biggest character in the movie is actually one of the smallest. Rhino the hamster keeps audiences laughing with his quick antics, smooth jokes, and excitable personality. Voice actor Mark Walton brings his previous talent from “Chicken Little” to make Rhino one of the most beloved characters in the film.

For a family that is looking for some great quality time, “Bolt” is the perfect family movie, and is enjoyable for all ages. This film also comes in 3D at selected theaters to make the viewing experience even more striking. Directors Byron Howard and Chris Williams, who made their directorial debut, prove that the magic of Walt Disney Pictures still holds strong through the sensational family film.
