Woman shot with BB gun outside Neptune Central
November 6, 2008
A woman was shot with a pellet gun Friday in the back of the leg.
According to University Police, she was walking from Neptune Central into Neptune East when she heard the sound of a pellet gun firing, followed by a sharp pain in the back of her leg.
She said she turned around and saw a black man wearing a dark gray sweater holding what she believed was the pellet gun that shot her. The woman did not require medical attention as the skin was not broken, said Lt. Todd Henert.
Henert said officers investigated the area extensively to locate the suspect and the weapon. Neither was found, but BBs were found on the ground.
Henert said police are searching for the suspect, but the scene alone provides limited information.
“It’s going to be unlikely unless someone comes forward,” Henert said.
He encouraged students and anyone else to inform the University Police of any possible leads.
