Chicago officials remove 3 election judges

CHICAGO (AP) _ Officials say they removed three election judges from Chicago polling places.

One was abusive, one was drunk and one was removed for impersonating an election judge. Chicago Election Board chairman Langdon Neal says that third person was arrested Tuesday.

Few problems cropped up, other than long lines in some precincts.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Voters who arrive before then will be able to vote, even if it takes a while to get through the line. Election judges will stop people from continuing to line up after 7 p.m.

Officials say Chicago turnout could top 80 percent.

That would equal the Chicago turnout in the 1972 presidential election when Republican Richard Nixon beat Democrat George McGovern in a landslide.
