Before you were here: Nov. 6

By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

NIU has a historical and entertaining past. By digging through the Northern Star archives, Flavor was able to examine what was going on Nov. 6 oh-so-many years ago.

5 years ago: Flavor sat down to talk with musician Robert Randolph of Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and NIU’s Student Association allocated $19,247 for an SA magazine.

10 years ago: A Huskie Bus Line driver was arrested for resisting arrest and was subsequently pepper-sprayed.

30 years ago: SA Vice President Harry Cannon was charged with going back on promises regarding the Student Recreation Center. Members of the SA suggested that Cannon should be fired.

35 years ago: Perspective wrote an editorial blasting Oscar’s Towing Service. The business was towing a minimum of nine cars a day.

40 years ago: Delta Upsilon offered free sidewalk snow shoveling to any sorority who found and stole the fraternity’s “magical duck.”
