Americans can look forward to changes in policy

After eight long years, a Democratic president will be in office.

Americans now more than ever have been feeling the crunch of conservative-based policies that have driven our economy into a hole and divided our nation more than ever.

It’s hard to believe the last time this country had a Democrat as commander in chief, the U.S. was boasting a monetary surplus.

Now, a Democrat has been elected to the highest office in the land, and perhaps citizens can look forward to a similar comfortable existence.

“We’re at a difficult point in the U.S. concerning our uphill battle with the economy,” said Kerith Woodyard, assistant communication professor. “Obama has the potential to lead in a new direction economically; to improve diplomatic relations in the international community.”

Obama’s projected policies are a step in the right direction for all Americans, though some Republicans argue that Obama’s stance on issues like health care and tax reform bear resemblance to socialist ideas.

“I believe that Obama represents potential for good things to happen,” said Bill Cassidy, assistant communication professor.

Besides the economy, Americans can look forward to a swift change of pace regarding the war in Iraq.

The changes in America to come are profound and wide-reaching.
