Fans encouraged to ‘black out’ football game versus Central Michigan

By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Black is the new red.

According to a news release from www.niuhuskies.com, The Red Riot, the student support organization for Northern Illinois teams, is inviting all Huskie fans to wear black to “black out” Huskie Stadium next Wednesday night.

NIU will play Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference football game that will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Kickoff for the Nov. 12 contest is at 7 p.m. and tickets are still available.

The outcome of the game will play a role in determining the 2008 MAC West Champion. Northern Illinois is 4-0 at home under Jerry Kill in 2008, and Kill repeatedly has mentioned the contributions that the home crowd and supportive fans have made in the Huskies’ ability to pull out close wins at Brigham Field.

The Red Riot hopes fans on both the East and West sides of Huskie Stadium will participate in the “Black Out” and help provide a great atmosphere for the ESPN2 national broadcast.

Tickets to the NIU-Central Michigan game, as well as the final 2008 home game on Tuesday, Nov. 25 versus Navy, are available for purchase at www.niuhuskies.com and by calling the NIU

Athletics Ticket Office at 815-752-6800 or Ticketmaster at 312-559-1212.
