Ohio Bobcats

Head Coach — Frank Solich (4th year)

2007 Record — (6-6 overall, 4-4 MAC)

Offense — Multiple

Defense — 4-3

The Bobcats have struggled so far this season, coming into Saturday’s contest at Kent State with a 1-5 (0-2 MAC) record. Ohio is coming off of a 41-20 loss to Western Michigan in Kalamazoo. Bobcat quarterback Boo Jackson threw for three touchdowns in the game and currently ranks fourth in the MAC in pass efficiency. Ohio has a MAC-high 17 turnovers on the season. Saturday’s game at Kent State is at 7 p.m. and will air on FSN Ohio.

Temple Owls

Head Coach — Al Golden (3rd year)

2007 Record — (4-8 overall, 4-4 MAC)

Offense — East Coast

Defense — 4-3

Temple came up with a 28-10 win at Miami last weekend. Owls quarterback Chester Stewart threw for three touchdowns in the win, while completing 11 of 23 passes for 178-yards, helping the Owls to their second win of the season and first MAC win.

Saturday, the Owls travel to Central Michigan. Oddly, Temple averages 23.5 points per game on the road compared to 6.0 points per game at home.

Akron Zips

Head Coach — J.D. Brookhart (5th year)

2007 Record — (4-8 overall, 3-5 MAC)

Offense — Multiple

Defense — 3-3-5

Akron defeated Kent State, 30-27, in double overtime last Saturday for their third consecutive road win. Akron’s defense has a MAC-high 16 takeaways with 12 fumbles and four interceptions on the season.

Saturday, Akron welcomes Bowling Green for the final Saturday game at the Rubber Bowl, as the Zips’ last two home games are midweek games before they move into a brand new stadium in 2009.

Buffalo Bulls

Head Coach ­— Turner Gill (3rd year)

2007 Record ­— (5-7 overall, 5-3 MAC)

Offense — Multiple

Defense — 4-3

Buffalo is coming off of a bye week and welcomes Western Michigan to UB Stadium this Saturday. The game can be seen on Time Warner Cable Western New York.

Offensively for the Bulls, quarterback Drew Willy has thrown for 285.5 passing yards on the season with 12 touchdowns to only three interceptions. Running back James Starks is second in the MAC with 97.5 rushing yards per game, while wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt has a MAC-leading 103.6 receiving yards per game.

Kent State Golden Flashes

Head Coach — Doug Martin (5th year)

2007 Record — (3-9 overall, 1-7 MAC)

Offense — Spread

Defense — 3-4

Kent State has suffered through a tough season, coming into Saturday’s game with a 1-5 (0-2 MAC) record, and has not beaten an FBS team. Running back Eugene Jarvis is expected to play this week, after not playing since Sept. 13. Jarvis has 190 rushing yards on the season and was named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award (best running back).

Saturday, Kent State welcomes Ohio to Dix Stadium. The game can be seen on FSN Ohio.

Miami Redhawks

Head Coach — Shane Montgomery

2007 Record — (6-7 overall, 5-2 MAC)

Miami dropped its second game in a row last weekend, losing 28-10 to Temple in Oxford, Ohio. The Redhawks are second in the MAC in total defense. Running back Thomas Merriweather is second in the MAC with 133 rushing yards.

This weekend the Redhawks travel to DeKalb to take on NIU. The Huskies won 28-25 in the two teams’ most recent meeting in 2006. Miami’s last win came in 1998. Saturday’s game is at 3 p.m. and can be seen on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago.

Bowling Green Falcons

Head Coach — Gregg Brandon (6th year)

2007 Record — 8-5 (6-2)

Bowling Green is coming off a 24-21 loss to Eastern Michigan. Quarterback Tyler Sheehan threw for 297-yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in the loss. Diyral Briggs has a MAC-best five sacks on the season.

Saturday the Falcons travel to Akron in a MAC East matchup. The Falcons defeated Akron last season, 40-21.
