DeKalb Tommy O’s location to change names
October 20, 2008
Changes are on the horizon for the Sycamore and DeKalb Tommy O’s.
The Sycamore location, 107 S. Sacramento St., has been under new ownership since Sept. 30.
The new owners, Jessi and Camile Asanoski, came across Tommy O’s after looking for a restaurant for about eight months.
Jessi said one of the reasons why he purchased the Sycamore location of Tommy O’s was that he liked the town.
New menu items are in store for the Sycamore Tommy O’s.
“Over time, we’re going to add a few things,” Jessi said. “Most of the menu is going to be the same, though, because the customer likes it and is used to it.”
Scott Morrow, the former owner of Tommy O’s in Sycamore, sold the location because he hopes to extend his family.
“My wife and I are trying to have another baby and it’s hard to do with two stores,” Morrow said. “Two stores were just one too many for us.”
The DeKalb location, 122 E. Lincoln Highway, will have a name change in mid-November to Flippin Eggs.
Morrow said he’s changing the DeKalb name because the Tommy O’s in Sycamore has been there for over 15 years.
“It’s been kind of a staple there,” Morrow said.
Jonathan Thompson, a Clare resident, will still continue to visit both locations despite the changes.
“Though the one in Sycamore is under new ownership,” Thompson said. “I’ll still go as long as, for the most part, the service and the food stay the same.”
As for the name change in DeKalb, Thompson said if they continue to offer the same food they always have, changing the name will not deter him from eating there.
