October 28, 2008
Bill Foster is running for the 14th Congressional District of Illinois. According to his campaign site, www.foster08.com, Bill Foster has dedicated his career to making scientific progress and to building a business that creates jobs for people in the United States.
On the economy, Foster feels party affiliation is no longer a guarantee of financial responsibility. Foster notes that fixing the economic deficit will depend on leaders with skill in business and discipline.
Foster feels that the war in Iraq has been a large contributor to the state of the U.S. economy. He believes the United States should end its involvement with the war in Iraq by finding a political solution, rather than a military one.
Foster would like to put more money toward energy research rather than funding the war. He feels the country must release its dependence on foreign oil and promote cleaner and more economical, efficient sources. The responsible development of biofuels is an important issue for the Illinois 14th District.
On health care, Foster is confident that a comprehensive and affordable basic level of health care can be provided to all Americans. He believes that it can be achieved with a universal health care system that is efficient, proactive and makes sense for the economy.
