‘American Carol’ has potential to be worst comedy of year
October 2, 2008
In the heat of the election year, the right wing actors of Hollywood have joined forces to create what looks to be the worst comedy of the year.
“American Carol,” directed by David Zucker (“Airplane”), tells the story of documentary film maker Michael Malone (Tom Farley), who protests Fourth of July and is visited by the ghost of George Washington played by Jon Voight. Washington proceeds to take Malone to the World Trade Center site post 9/11 and converts him into a patriot. Other ghostly visits include General George Patton played by Fraiser alum star Kelsey Grammer.
Other scenes from the film involve spoofs of suicide bomber training videos, radical Christians hijacking planes with crucifixes and Hollywood being renamed “Bin Laden Land” after the terrorists “win”. Boy, the writing staff of this film sure knows comedy.
The film will be released only two weeks before Oliver Stone’s “W.” and both films have the possibility to stir up controversy between parties. Unfortunately, “American Carol” has a better chance of being forgotten about.
Look—or don’t look—for “American Carol” in theatres October 3rd.
If it’s going to be anything like Bush’s presidency, it will do as much for the box office as Bush did for the economy.
