What you need to know to vote

By KIM SKIBINSKI

Note: All info is from DeKalb County Clerk Sharon Holmes.

Dos

– Bring ID: either your driver’s license or voter registration card.

– Make sure that your address is up to date. If it’s not, you can’t vote.

– Avoid the late day rush. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4, so there is plenty of time to vote.

– Be sure you have the time to stand in line for at least a half hour, Holmes said.

Don’ts

– Do not wear political T-shirts, buttons, stickers, etc., to the polls.

– Do not drive any car with political accessories within 100 ft. of the polling place.

– Do not talk about the candidates or mention them by name.

– All of the above is considered electioneering, and any person refusing to abide by these rules will be asked to leave immediately, Holmes said.

“Vote early! There is never a rush at 7 a.m.,” Holmes said.
