Yes to the Illinois Constitutional Convention

By THE EDITORIAL BOARD

On Nov. 4 citizens in Illinois will have the opportunity to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to an Illinois Constitutional Convention.

The convention carries with it the possibility for gain and loss.

Some citizens are concerned about state pensions or special interest groups gaining control of the convention.

However, other citizens favor the idea that the state could gain a recall provision and possibly redistrict townships and unincorporated areas in the state.

Both sides propose a sound argument. State government could be vastly improved and streamlined, or the very state policies we enjoy now could fall into jeopardy.

However, the Northern Star feels the possibility for improvement outweighs the risk.

Improvement is rarely gained without risk and assuming no good can come through the consideration of change, would eliminate the possibility all together.
