Stances:
Civil rights: Same-sex marriage should be a state decision, pro-life
Economy: Government needs to control spending (concentrate on fiscal policy), no bailout for homeowners, wants to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, raising taxes will make economy worse and Home Plan – replace “burdensome mortgage with manageable [federal] loan.”
Education: Emphasizes standards and accountability, focuses on inspiring children to reach full potential, use monetary incentives (grants) for school districts to expand online opportunities.
Health care: Comprehensive reform that responds to families’ needs and at lower cost and reform health care by making it more affordable, access to quality coverage, portability and security to keep insurance as jobs change (more choices than employer-based insurance).
War in Iraq: Supports current counterinsurgency strategy, helping to establish stable and democratic state in Iraq, defeat al-Qaida before leaving Iraq and pressure Iran and Syria to change behavior from aiding violence in Iraq.
