Halloween Briefs

– CreepFest at the Museum will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Midwest Museum of Natural History, 425 W. State St. in Sycamore. The special spider will include arachnid hobbyists Art and Kathleen Schramn conducting demonstrations as well as a display. The exhibit is free to members or is included in the museum’s general admission.

– The annual YMCA Halloween Party will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA, 2500 W. Bethany Road. Party goers must be accompanied by an adult and can expect haunted houses, games, magicians, candy and prizes. The younger participants are recommended to stay from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This year’s event is co-sponsored by Kishwaukee Community Hospital, B95 and WDKB-FM. The event is free, although donations will be accepted.

– NIU’s Spooky Science Saturday including the annual Haunted Physics Lab and the new Creepy Chemistry Labs will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Faraday Hall at NIU. Over 80 interactive exhibits awaits attendees along with the option to put on painted glasses. This event is part of NIU’s outreach program trying to get students interested in science. A $2 donation is suggested.

– All are invited to the Spooktacular-Downtown Trick-or-Treating from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in downtown DeKalb. Come for a safe trick-or-treating experience with participating downtown businesses. The House Cafe will also host spooky kids crafts.
