The Rant: Cutting alcohol in Wrigleyville bad idea
September 24, 2008
King Richard Daley is laying down the law in Wrigleyville.
The Chicago mayor has said he wants all alcohol sales in and around Wrigley Field to be cut-off after the seventh inning during Cubs playoff games in order to help keep the peace and avoid any disruption.
You’re kidding, right?
He wants every bar in Wrigleyville to empty for the final outs of a possible North Side championship if that should occur?
What?
I understand you want to make Chicago look professional, especially with an Olympic bid on the line, but threatening that neighbors will “vote every precinct dry” if disruptions occur is just over the top.
Why not worry about guns, highways and your politics if you are trying to make Chicago’s image better?
