Police arrested a DeKalb man who allegedly sold drugs from an apartment at University Village.

Jason L. Johnson, 23, of DeKalb, was arrested Saturday at about 11:30 p.m. following a search of the apartment at 732 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Police originally received an anonymous tip that Johnson was selling drugs from the apartment, and were able to get enough information for a search warrant, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler.

During the search, police found several individually wrapped bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia that were packaged for sale, Spangler said.

Johnson was charged with possession of marijuana, unlawful delivery of marijuana, obstructing justice and also for two DeKalb County warrants. He was taken to DeKalb County Jail pending bond.

“All drug search warrants are very erratic,” Spangler said. “You are relying on intelligence that may be somewhat old and may not say how much they have. It is hard to judge the importance of a drug arrest by the particular amount.”

DeKalb Police Sgt. Bob Redel was unsure how much marijuana was found, but said, because his possession charge was a misdemeanor, the amount is under 10 grams.
