10 television shows that should ‘call it quits’

By KYLE SPENCER

Here are ten television shows that have overstayed their welcome on the airwaves, and should seriously consider throwing in the towel.

10. “The Apprentice”

A television show hosted by Donald Trump was just a bad idea in the first place. Does it really need to continue?

9. “Knight Rider”

While it’s just premiered, it’s common sense this remake of the 1980s show will only be good for a few laughs. Writers: sell the car and try to be creative for once.

8. “The Simpsons”

Sure, this dysfunctional, primary-colored family once brought laughs to living rooms around the globe, but what else could possibly happen in the town of Springfield? Perhaps the show should have called it quits after the release of the movie last year.

7. “Jerry Springer”

As the topics become more ridiculous, so does the thought of wanting to tune into this mess of a talk show.

6. “Mind of Mencia”

Carlos Mencia is just NOT funny. With his lame jokes targeting race and religion, it seems as though he is only living in the shadow of Dave Chappelle, who actually knew how to make a joke.

5. “American Dad”

“Family Guy” hasn’t done as well as many hoped upon its return, and “American Dad” hasn’t done any better. It’s just like “Family Guy,” but with a less-interesting family and unfunny jokes.

4. “South Park”

Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker created a cultural phenomenon when “South Park” premiered, but just like “The Simpsons,” it should have stopped while it was ahead. Now it appears as though “South Park” will slowly fade away and be forgotten.

3. “The Price is Right”

There is really no one to fill the massive shoes of ex-host Bob Barker. The show could have left with its dignity and its fans when Barker signed off hosting. Drew Carey just isn’t working out, and who will now remind people to get their pets spayed and neutered?

2. “CSI” franchise

There’s only so many different cases we can see before they all begin to blur together. Sure, somebody finally shot Horatio and that was great, but maybe the series should pass on just as Horatio has. As for the rest of the “CSI” shows, they are all carbon copies of each other, picked up and placed in different cities, making them all perfect candidates for cancellation.

1. “Saturday Night Live”

For decades, the actors of “SNL” have given us great bits of comedic genius, but the show seems to have lost the last of the writers that had any humor or creativity. The skits now last several minutes too long and feature jokes that even a 3-year-old wouldn’t laugh at.

It seems as though the writers have been put on a budget allowing only one funny joke a month. “SNL” should bow out while it still has a chance to be remembered as a classic without the discussion having to end with the inevitable question of: “What happened?”
