On LeShon Johnson…

“There was a wonderful article on Leshon Johnson on Monday. Unfortunately he’s not around to read it because he’s down in Malibu with his new Mercedes, condo, and new personal training room. What an example of a fine Northern Student.”

“I was just wondering why we have an eight-page dedication to Leshon Johnson who is stuck at NIU?”

On Gerald O’Dell…

“I’d like to comment on the article on Gerald O’Dell trying to get NIU in another conference. Gerry leave it alone and get your head out of your butt.”

On I.M. column…

“Hello I’m calling on behalf of I.M. I’m not alone—we’d like him to stick around. We feel that his articles are a lot better than some of the ones that hit the front page. And we’re not a bunch of sickos either.”

“I think ‘Thoughts from the Insensitive’ should have not been canceled. This column was not meant to be taken seriously. If you write something about and you are a member of this certain group you shouldn’t take it seriously. You should just forget about it.”

“I think ‘Thoughts from the Insensitive Side’ should continue. Even though the minute I read this column I could tell that it would not last. The people around here would whine that it’s offensive. Lighten up NIU don’t let what one person says get to you. What he says is his opinion. There are more important things to worry about around this campus. Like Finals.”

On Stories…

“Hi I just read the article in Monday’s Star about university communities plagued by drug problems by Jerry Lawrence. What is this, an editorial? You should read toward the third page bottom and on page two the top paragraph of the first column. It’s an editorial. What kind of reporting is that? I’m very disappointed.”

On Weed regulations…

“How come I can smoke dope at the Cypress Hill concert in the field house, but I can’t have any candy in the library? That just doesn’t make sense to me.”
