Monday night best bets
August 24, 2008
WHAT TO WATCH TONIGHT
Summer programming still has a stranglehold around my neck like Latrell Sprewell. The few new, non-daily summer shows that I like are now over like “Factory” and “The Venture Bros.” I still need to wait a few more weeks until a new season of anything begins, as “Saturday Night Live” premieres on Sept. 13, and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on Sept. 18.
Though football is still in pre-season, it might be worth watching the first two-and-a-half quarters of the Seattle Seahawks at the San Diego Chargers on “Monday Night Football” beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
On any given week, I could normally recommend “The Daily Show” or “The Colbert Report,” but today both shows are repeats. Both of them, however, will be new on Tuesday night with “The Daily Show” airing from the Democratic National Convention, so don’t miss that.
For tonight, I would have to say “My Name is Earl” on TBS at 9 p.m. is the best bet. There will be back-to-back episodes of this under-appreciated comedy.
