While the NIU women’s tennis team put up a battle to start the day, it was never able to secure a victory.

NIU lost 4-0 to top-seeded Western Michigan in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament on Friday.

The Huskies had close matches in doubles, losing the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches 8-6 and 7-6, respectively.

NIU was unable to build any momentum in singles play. Huskie Nao Umemura lost at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, while Jenny Edner lost at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1.

Western Michigan and Buffalo advanced to the tournament finals Sunday afternoon. As of press time, the match was still in progress.
