DU and Invisible Children: Working Together to Promote Awareness

Delta Upsilon decided to delay their concert to combine efforts with the Invisible Children’s Group at NIU. Also, the Invisible Children’s Road Crew will be attending to tell their story and to answer questions. There will be a viewing of their new videos that show the new problems many Ugandans are facing even during peace time.

If you don’t know what I am referring to, it means you should attend and find out.

You will also have a chance to rock out because three bands will be performing that night: Abeo, Yourself and the Air, and Bluefish Fellows. Check them out on MySpace.

The event is taking place Sunday April 27, at the Carl Sandberg Auditorium in the Holmes Student Center. It will start at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. During that time you will be able to buy different Invisible Children items.

You can also buy raffle tickets for $2 each for a custom made Invisible Children’s mountain bike. Tickets for the event will be sold for $5 at the door. If you have any questions, contact Adam Todd at [email protected].

Delta Zeta to host ‘Dream Man’ and ‘Greek Goddess’ pageant

Delta Zeta will be holding our 13th annual Dream Man and Greek Goddess Philanthropy in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium on April 22. The event will begin at 7 p.m. Dream Man and Greek Goddess is a pageant that has scoring categories of formal wear, swim wear, a talent portion as well as a pre-pageant interview, and an onstage question. There is penny voting going on in DuSable Hall all week.

Contestants get points for putting coins in the cup of the person they want to win. Coins are positive, checks are double positive, and cash is negative. The proceeds will go to benefit many speech and hearing institutes. For questions or tickets they can contact our Internal Philanthropy chair at [email protected].
