A man allegedly took his own car back and nearly hit a person after it was towed to Lovett’s Towing Monday.

At 3:54 p.m., after having his car towed from the Pizza Hut, 701 W. Lincoln Highway, the suspect got a ride from a friend to Lovett’s Towing, 1837 E. Lincoln Highway.

The suspect then went to the back of the yard where the car was stored and drove off with it, nearly hitting an employee trying to stop him, said Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department. The suspect then pulled onto Lincoln Highway in front of the yard, nearly striking a car and drove off.

The suspect, who has not been arrested, has had complaints signed against him for criminal trespass to real property, reckless driving and theft of service.
