Track of the Day: ‘In the Basement’ by Teenage Bottlerocket
March 17, 2008
The Ramones still have an incredible influence on contemporary pop punk. For example, Teenage Bottlerocket, which features members from another punk band, the Lillingtons (a fine example of classic pop punk).
The newer band keeps the sound and energy alive, with power chords ripping over lyrics about being scared of a monster living in the basement. The song is loud, the chorus is great and the backup vocals get the fists pumping.
Teenage Bottlerocket is accessible and fun. “In the Basement” is the hottest track on the band’s phenomenal new album, “Warning Device.”
