All involved in Sycamore car crash safe
February 14, 2008
No one was injured in a car fire Tuesday morning in Sycamore.
At 9:21 a.m., the vehicle was traveling westbound on Plank Road, east of Devine Way, when the driver lost control and hit a pole. The vehicle then went into a ditch and caught on fire, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The driver was able to exit the vehicle and no one was injured, according to the release.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, said Sycamore Fire Chief Bill Riddle, and the damage is estimated at $1,500.
“It is very rare that a car catches fire in an accident,” Riddle said. “During the winter, these rural roads are in really bad shape. People really have to be careful.”
