Mother and son arrested in connection with multi-state theft case

A Leland man was arrested after the execution of a search warrant on two mini-storage units Jan. 19 in connection with a multi-state theft case.

Mark A. Wright, 48, is charged with a total of 23 felonies and is being held on a $2 million bond in DeKalb County Jail after stolen property was recovered in the investigation.

Wright is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, eight counts of unlawful possession of a manufactures identification plate, three counts of identity theft, five counts of unlawful possession of certificate titles, unlawful possession of a license plate, unlawful possession of a manufactures statement of origin, unlawful possession of temporary registration permit and violation of parole.

Stolen property includes two 2008 Dodge pickup trucks, two ATV four-wheelers, four large boats and trailers, various trailers ranging from enclosed cargo haulers to heavy flat bed equipment trailers, one John Deere lawn mower, one Kubota tractor and a large assortment of hand and power tools. Items identified as stolen have been taken from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release.

A search warrant of Wright’s home led to the arrest of Wright’s mother, Sandra L. Seabright, 67, of Leland. Seabright is charged with aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and forgery. Seabright is being held on $500,000 bond in DeKalb County Jail.
