Laesch campaigns on campus
February 5, 2008
John Laesch, a Democratic candidate running for the 14th District seat was on campus Monday in hopes of getting students to vote today.
Laesch walked around DuSable Hall trying to garner students’ attention about the election.
“I’m trying to get students excited about the election and hope they will get out and vote [today],” he said.
One thing he wants students to be aware of is that students will have to vote on two ballots.
“There is one ballot for the special election and one for the regular primary,” Laesch said.
He said that this has been challenging for some people to understand since it is not ordinary for elections.
Making sure young people get out and vote is an important aspect of his campaign.
“The decisions being made now are going to affect them in the future, and I am going to help make those decisions on their behalf,” he said.
Laesch is feeling optimistic going into the election.
“I feel good and am hoping for a high voter turnout,” he said.
