Track of the Day: “The Way I Am”

Track of the Day – “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson

I totally blame this on VH1. They aired ads proclaiming Michaelson a stellar new artist only 96 times during an “America’s Top Model” marathon.

“Fine,” I said, “I’ll listen to her!”

It’s good that I did. This lady’s voice is sweeter than Regina Spektor’s singing over Norah Jones on piano. Simple lyrics, delicate melodies and feelings that pinch a girl in the heart reminded me why there’s nothing wrong with “aww”-ing my way through a song.

“The Way I Am” is catchy, cute and artfully composed. In fact, it was so embedded in my brain, I purchased Michaelson’s CD, “Girls and Boys,” to get the song out of my head.

Look VH1! You’ve made me a good, little capitalist! Thank you, though, for being so freaking annoying.
