December 5, 2007
Two newspaper delivery workers from Earlville died in a fatal car accident Tuesday morning while on their morning route.
Nancy J. Harmon, 63, and Joseph A. Harmon, 57, both of Earlville were pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle accident on Rimsnider Road , just north of Duffy Road.
At 8:25 a.m., Nancy Harmon was driving the vehicle that crossed over the center line and struck a concrete bridge on the east side of the road, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release. Neither were wearing seat belts, according to the release.
“It appears they just drifted into the bridge,” said DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott. “It is possible they fell asleep, but we don’t know that yet.”
Scott said weather conditions were not a factor and there is no indication of alcohol or any other substance involved. Foul play is not suspected, according to the release.
Nancy and Joseph Harmon were delivering papers for the Aurora Beacon News and the Chicago Tribune, Scott said.
