Track of the day – “Thriller” By Michael Jackson
Personally, I don’t like to “pop, lock, or drop it,” nor do I “lean with it or rock with it.” In fact, now that I think about it, I wouldn’t “crank that soulja boy” for any given reason.
Modern mainstream music has lost its way, and I find myself in need of music from real artists. When I say “real” artists, I mean Michael Jackson, naturally.
Regardless of how you feel about Michael Jackson, his music is pure genius.
From “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” to “Remember the Time” to “Bad,” every single song Mr. Jackson creates manages to leave its mark on popular culture.
Although there is a special place in my heart for all of them, one song stands out above the others.
“Thriller,” originally released on Dec. 1, 1982, still remains one of the most riveting songs ever created. From the catchy lyrics to the flawless dance moves that go along with the video, the entire performance is amazing.
Sure, Jackson’s skin color looks completely different in that video than it does now, but whose doesn’t?
With final exams right around the corner, I encourage my fellow students to take a break and have a, “thriller, a thriller night”.
When listening to “Thriller,” it’s best to forget about the Neverland Ranch or the fact that Jackson allegedly opts to share his bed with young boys.
We’ll never truly know if any of those allegations are true, but without a doubt, his music is in a league of its own.
No matter how many kids Mr. Jackson hangs from his balcony, or what color his skin becomes, “Thriller” will always be remembered as a classic.
